2021 Jockey Club Continuing Coach Education Programme - Sports Psychology (Coach Application) Introductory Course (I): Leadership & Coaching

The Jockey Club Continuing Coach Education Programme - Sports Psychology (Coach Application) Introductory Course (I): Leadership & Coaching made its online debut from 19:30-21:30 on 30 June 2021.  It was the first out of six sessions of the course.  Ms. Artemis Fang, Sport Science Officer (Sport Psychology) of the Hong Kong Sports Institute, was the speaker. She contrasted the teaching and leadership roles of a coach from the Chinese and Western perspectives, and explored with the audience the adoption of an open attitude towards the relationship of coaches and athletes. Through group discussions, the participating coaches had a better understanding about the two roles of their work, and were inspired to design training programmes that are more suitable for both their athletes and themselves. It has attracted over 230 coaches from different sports to engage in the online session.

This Introductory Course happens about every two months. Enrollment is per session-based. Each session carries three Continuing Coach Education (CCE) Hours. As an incentive for coaches to learn more about the theories and application of sports psychology, anyone who completes all six sessions, and submits a final report of 1000-1400 words, upon review and approval, will be awarded an extra eight CCE hours, totaling 26 hours, and receive a certificate for the Sports Psychology (Coach Application) Introductory Course issued by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee.
